Remember though, after x-number for cut-track penalties you do get DQ'd. Long as someone isn't using a blatantly obvious cut like going through the pits on silverstone, not much that can be done...

Looking forward to this tomorrow everyone. Thanks to Optical for doing a great job to set the event up. I hope everyone has no issues with chat, connection, etc. fingers crossed. Would love to have a good hour race.

Connection and Pit problems are my biggest worry. We used Skype for last night's TransAm race and it worked beautifully. I just need to finish getting Skype ID's from everyone. We didn't have any D/C's, only very minor lag blips, but even when using the pit workaround (not opening strategy menu while in session) there were still racers who received odd levels of fuel. Think two people had their tanks filled to max every time they pitted, I had mine underfilled on my first stop (filled to 37, set to 46) but then was fine on each stop after. No one received improper tire pressures that I'm aware of, and no one had Red Tires coming out of pits. That's important. We can deal with extra fuel, it doesn't hurt all that much, and so long as it happens randomly, it is not as if anyone is getting a clear advantage over anyone else. I can live with that...

Ok. ran into a MAJOR speedbump tonight just after finishing up the online practice that some folk joined...
My main PC took a dump on me and the mobo is dead. I have replaced every component in it in the last 20 minutes with no luck, so last thing it could be is the mobo. I likely won't have this fixed until late next week. In the mean time I can still post on forums and all that with my work pc/business server, but I will not install any unnecessary programs on that computer (I run a business from home as a wholesale supplier to small and medium engraving companies).
For now, this means I have no way to host Skype for our races until my other pc is rebuilt. If there is anyone else out there with a high performance internet connection who may be willing to host the Skype chat, send me a message over xbox (it'll ding my phone on smartglass) and I can walk you through what needs to be done and get you everyone's IDs. Even still, I don't think it would be set up and have everyone else ready to go in time for tomorrow. I may not have this fixed even next weekend, so any help would be awesome for the 2nd race.
For Race #1, we are either going to have to have everyone in game chat and deal with the problems that go along with that, or split ourselves into two live parties. Personally, I am leaning towards the two live parties. I am not positive, but I do think game chat adds to the instability of the game connection itself. We can figure that out for tomorrow.
We'll figure it out then.

If you're up to it the spotter would be epic. I'm setting up my pit stops. Looks like if you take repairs off, the theoretical time for the stop doesn't go down. So there is no point in turning those off? Also, I can't choose to fill with less fuel than I started the race with? What is this. There's really no reason to take repairs off. Even when you have damage, repairs take very little time.
In order to set 0-fuel pitstop, you have to go into your tune, set your Fuel Level (or qual fuel if you're in a qualifier) to 1L and save it, then open your pit strat and move the fuel bar to 1L, save it, then go back to your tune and reset your fuel to where you want it.

I figured out the workaround. Just annoying.

Rockefelluh here you go if you see any errors let me know. Looks great. Not going to lie, mine is killin it! Thanks. Also, I was wondering why my gas mileage was so bad tonight. I tested a few laps worth of gas to find my mpg/lap. Then put a race tank, mpg went down quite a bit. Realized my mpg went down due to the extra weight. This game just goes so much farther than other racers in xbox. Can't get over that.

I have a sweet laptop and great connection I'm happy to try hosting the Skype session. I'll be in around 8:30 and we can try it out.

That was fun. Looks like we have a few things to work out (late start and whatever that was when the light went green), but I had fun. Because of that strange start, I ended up starting from the back. I also had this weird thing where my 5th and 6th gears seemed to be broken (I went a full 25+ kph slower on the Mulsane straight). After my 1st pit stop, my tranny was fixed and I could put in better times. I ended up wrecking again and having to pit a 2nd time. This time, I came out right in front of AghastVenus1. After a few laps, he reeled me in, but I went too deep into one of the corners and essentially gave him the position without a fight. I tried to catch up, but he stayed about 3-4 seconds ahead of me through the end of the race.

Some kinks to work out. But I had fun. Enjoyed the party chat during the race. Hope Skype works good for everyone next time. A good spread of drivers I think and I bet there will be some close racing on the smaller tracks

@ SportsGeekDruid: That wasn't your transmission, it was the aero damage to your spoilers/wings, probably from being hit in the confusion at the start. That won't be happening again. The reason for that was because some people with TX wheels can have a problem when the session switches from practice to qual to race and the FFB can cut out. For the rest of the series we won't be bothering with that. It's not as if the wheel stops working preventing people from driving. Really though, whatever equipment anyone uses to play this game is their equipment, and whatever problems go with that equip is their problem. If you use such a wheel, then you also have to accept the risk that things won't always work properly. In the future, Green means Go @ Rockefellah: absolutely. Next weekend at Brno will be a totally different experience. That was kind of my goal in alternating between short and long tracks, and tight or open tracks.

New thread for Race #2 RSVP will be open soon. If you missed this week's race for whatever reason, it does not mean you cannot join us next week. Those who did join this week will get priority to keep the series going, but there's every chance that not everyone who raced this week will make it, spots can open up at last minute. Another idea was brought up if enough people want to join, there can always be a second race group. I don't really know how I would combine points for the two groups, maybe guaranteeing the top 25% of drivers of the second race to be placed in the main race for the following week, or something like that. If the problem comes up, it's a good problem to have and I will try to work it into the series in as fair a way to everyone as I possibly can.

Hey NavCan, how do you add those cool car images to the signature of the posts? I don't see how to upload an image to be used there...

absolutely rubbish display on my part but optical gave me some good advice that will hopefully put last night far in the rear view and I'll actually be competitive next weekend. Can't wait

That wasn't your transmission, it was the aero damage to your spoilers/wings, probably from being hit in the confusion at the start. Looks like you are right. I just reviewed my race and it looks like I had some good damage to the chassis which I didn't even notice. I hope to do better next race.
