With these cars I wanted a more winding technical track list than the last series which alternated speed and technicality. I also didn't want to overlap any tracks if possible, but I couldn't pass up Laguna Seca with F/C. We spent too many evenings in our old rnadom race nights way back when on that track with those cars.
I will update a points roster sometime, maybe will have to wait till Saturday. I have it all written down but transposing will be impossible right now... neck hurts too much to look around at anything.
Just wanted to post it here to make official, Saturday will be 60 laps on Laguna Seca with F/C. I don't have to bother with Mandatory Pit stops because the cars don't have enough fuel for that length of race. Some of us might be able to get away with just one pit stop, but likely will need 2 if you're rough on your tires.
Remember 30 min Qual >> 60 lap race. I figure 60 laps at roughly 1:20 a lap (a little high for pace) and 2 pit stops will put event at about 80-85 mins of race after the qual, which is about my target time for each Main Race.

Looking forward to Wednesday's race at Zolder! This is one track I have intentionally avoided as much as possible, I've never really gotten comfortable on it on any class. With a little practice and tuning on Sunday morning I was only able to bring my F/C times to just under 1:28, and that seems really slow to me. Let me know what "avg good" times are for this track on F/C so I can figure out how many laps for Saturday. Best guess right now is 55 laps based on a 1:27 pace, which would be right about 80 minutes, not counting pits. We'll see if I can even configure the game to run 55 laps in MP.
As for Wednesday, think about and practice various different classes. Think about what kind of car/class you want to submit for your choice!
Also, when practicing for various cars, when you go into pit garage while in the session, remember to hit Y to return your tune to default for those non-F/C practice runs. That's the easiest way to make sure you're running default.
Lastly, I'll make the edit on the OP/Overview post, but from here on out unless we have >12 people, we will be using Xbox Live Party Chat for our communications instead of Skype. I was completely unaware that the member limit on Party Chat had been raised from 8 to 12 people, so there's no reason at all to be using Skype unless we pass 12 people in any given race.

Just wanted to confirm: this Saturday's Formula C Main Race at Zolder will be 55 laps with a rolling start. Penalties will be ON like last Saturday's race, so watch your lines at the two chicanes.

somehow ran a 1:25:7 in qualifying during a race weekend with 15 cars, but pace high 1:27 - 1:28
Also, it will be JUST possible to pit only once, though I made it to the pits on lap 28 with .3l fuel left, and had been conserving for 3-4 laps before pitting. better to plan to two pits and run lighter fuel loads than to tempt fate like Snel's last race... (that sucked so hard man)

So Saturday was, for lack of a better term, a bitch of a night.
Everything seemed to be going fairly smooth until about lap 20/60 when lag issues started appearing for several people. I know Venus was bouncing all over the track for several people, as well as a few jumps for either khal or jmac's car. I don't know if the lag was on AghastVenus' end or mine. I did reboot all of my network equipment prior to the event starting, and I am on a 'solid' 180mbps down / 15+mbps up connection, hardwired over gigabit ethernet with Cat6 routed in isolated conduit through my home. That still doesn't mean the problem couldn't have happened between my home and my ISP, or maybe it was someone else or just a bitch of an evening.
I know shortly after my lap 20 pit, I was disconnected from chat while still in the party. Checking later it showed that my network settings were blocking me (NAT?). while I was muted out of chat, I know some collisions occurred, some others disconnected or dropped from game or chat, and then about lap 31 I hit a blinking Venus. After that collision (seen in my Feed clip) I went into the pits to repair. While in the pits, I meant to click Guide button to open party menu and try to fix my chat while I was under AI control. Either the video lagged or I fat-fingered something, and instead of opening party menu, I accidentally opened another game (fallout4), which both prompted me to start an update AND closed Project Cars, booting me from my own race and forcing the lobby to migrate to a new host.
After that, I was briefly able to get into chat to explain what I thought just happened, but shortly got disconnected from chat again. I then rebooted the xbox but at that point was completely unable to use messaging either through the Xbox or through the PC App. I could only use messaging on my phone's Smartglass over 3G, which is why I am concerned the problem could have been on my end.
I do have a screenshot of the final leaderboard, such as it was at the end of the 60 lap race for those who finished (thankyou Venus!). I will update those points shortly.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.... Let's try and put this last weekend behind us. crap happens, and we're all aware that PCars' multiplayer is not exactly failproof. Whatever the causes were, it happened, it's over with, and we can continue on the best we can to keep having a good time for all.
Now looking ahead to this Wednesday's Sprint Event at Dubai Autodrome - International Layout. Does anyone here besides me have a "good" or figuratively reliable connection? I would most prefer someone who lives near the middle of the country (texas, OK, Missouri, Illinois, that kind of middle) so as to provide even distance between everyone. I would like to see if having someone else host the race may benefit us all. If anyone thinks their net is up to the challenge, let me know! I will get you all the details you need to set up the race properly. I would love to try this on Wednesday night to see if it will work better for next Saturday's bigger race.
While I do have an extremely fast internet connection and best possible network configuration in my home, I am in California while most of our racers are on the East Cost of US/Canada. Also, living in Fresno, my internet traffic is routed north to Sacramento, then San Jose, then Microsoft, then back down to everyone else. My traffic has to go even further west before going east, a situation that has impacted my ability to play other online games that were sensitive to ping rates (Final Fantasy XIV: ARR). I ended up using a Gaming VPN for that (WTFast) which was possible because it was a PC game, but unless I invest in a special router it cannot be used on console.
Wednesday will be the half way point in this series, and I definitely plan to continue with another series after this one, so let's continue on continuing on! See you all at Dubai!

Thanks for the info and I feel like I am to blame for one of the accidents as I slowed down to avoid being in the chacain for the faster cars coming. I will try to push til i get into pasding areas rather than slowing down to avoid tight areas if that makes sense but that means people will have to be a bit more patient. I totally understand if you vote me off as I am considerably slower, I do love the racing, really do, but I'll get out if I am causing wrecks or damage to others. I'll be searching Dubai for passing lanes and get into them sooner!

No way I'm going to suggest removing someone from the series because they're too slow. So long as you're having fun, you're welcome to continue driving with us and hopefully learning and improving your skills along the way! As far as getting around you, perhaps try not to be so quick to get out of the way when the cars are coming. While making room for others is appreciated, the real issue comes when you suddenly slow to not be in a turn at the same time as others and leaving your line to get out of the way, while those others may be anticipating you maintaining your line and them adjusting to go around you, causing both of you to make the same adjustment. I know that's how I nailed you those couple times at Laguna Seca. An other part of the problem in my opinion is that player names are so small you're not really sure who you're approaching (in lap traffic) until you're nearly on them and should already have adjusted... Nothing we can do about that, really.

Very good then, I'll try to not worry as much and just go while maintaining speed, I just didnt want to be in the way and I'll continue to improve!

Sorry about last night's race. I'll figure out how to reschedule it with everyone over the next day or two.
Have spent the last ~20 hours at ER. School sent our son home with his coughing got really bad, so we took him to his doctor who then told us to go to ER. just a big asthma flare up, had been pretty rough over the last few weeks since we were all sick in mid January with a cold/flu. We're all back home and all is well, he just needed some prolonged nebulizer treatment and monitoring but not being admitted. Was stressful enough just sitting in a damn ER overnight.
Will figure out soon what to do about the sprint race, but for now I consider Saturday's race on unless anything else comes up, which I don't expect to happen.
Time to get some sleep.
