Saturday, August 15th 9pm EST/6pm PST. 45 laps on Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Qualifying will start PROMPTLY at 9pm. If you are late enough that you cannot join qual, you will not be joining the race either.
I will try to start filling the party at 8:50pm. At least once during the week before the race I will try to host a 2+ hour long practice session that is open to anyone to join and leave whenever they like.
Please reply below if you are sure to be there. If you participated in either of the previous races, then you must use the same car in this race that you did for the those, and must for all future races. If you have not raced with us in this series yet, then you may use any GT3 car besides the BMW M3.
Remember: We will be using skype this weekend. MSG me in game or over the forums with your skype ID if you haven't done so yet. Once I have your Skype Id, you must accept the contact request that I will send to you so that everything is ready to pick up and go on Saturday. Download Skype! We will not be using Live chat or Game chat.
Rules Change... Because of the problems with pitting that no matter what we try we cannot get around, pitting will be optional until they are successfully patched by SMS. You can still refill fuel and tire change if you like, and damage will still be on so repairs will be part of it as well. Tire Wear is still Real. Will consider more about removing damage in the next few days. Until the fuel level and red-tire bug is worked out, it's just doing more harm than good to the series by keeping these in. Also, Penalties will be disabled. There is currently no rhyme or reason to when someone is disqualified from cut-track penalties, and many tracks have faulty track limits that just compound the problem. I consider advantageous track cutting to be cheating, no matter what the programmed limits are. If you are caught intentionally corner cutting you will lose your points for this race. It's up to everyone else if you consider coming out of the pit lane before turn 1 on Laguna Seca to be track cutting... Personally, since pits are not mandatory, I don't care if someone comes out onto the main stretch before turn 1 because the real pit exit is a pain the butt, just don't cut someone off if you do. Whatever you all think is what I'll go with on that. I don't really thing corner cutting is a problem we have to worry about anyway with this group.
For all those interested in racing the GT3 Series. Install Skype on your xbox, and then either post here, PM me here, or message me in xbox with the email address/user name that you set up skype with. It is possible and does work to get as many as 16 people all in the same chat channel using this method.

Ok. Did some testing today, and Tire Wear will still be set to real. Pit stops are no longer mandatory until they are patched, but you can still pit if you want to.I ran a Race Weekend for 45 laps on Laguna Seca using Soft tires at stock pressures for my car (2.20/2.10). My pace for the first 30 laps was right around 1:24:500. I was racing with 15 other AI cars, so maybe that affected the time a little, my hotlap times using same build in Free Practice were down at 1:23:600. After 35 laps, my lap time increased by about 1 second/lap, and on the last lap #45/45, my time was 1.25 seconds slower than my fast lap pace of 1:24:5. At no time during this race did ANY of my tires show red in the Chase-Cam HUD . HERE is a link to the tune I used for this test. Look at my Alignment settings. When I tried this exact tune with front camber at stock -2.4, my tires went red within 2 laps... With those alignment settings, there is no reason at all you should be seeing red tires unless you either get knocked off line by another car, or lose control and spin the car. If you are still getting red tires, the only possible cause is you trying to drive too fast through the corners. Seriously. Go slower to go faster. If you are having problems with red tires even after practicing, send me a message. I will be more than happy to help you as much as I can, whether it's with tuning, game settings, or driving technique. I'm by no means the fastest person out there, but I will try to help the best I can offer. Edit: time down to 1:22:8xx in Time Trials having changed my rear camber and longitudinal bias a bit more. Also, there are two clips on my Friends List feed showing how limited tire wear was after 42 and 44 laps if you don't believe it's possible.

Slower can definitely be faster if you're pushing to hard. During a race under pressure I remind myself constantly about this. I can't make the Mazda race but will be there the following week.
Good luck at Mazda everyone.

Hey,
I haven't joined any races in the series yet, but I'm all officially moved in to my new place and ready for some games. I *think* this time works for me, but I will check with my wife, as it's a Saturday night and she may have made some plans.
As a side note, I haven't played in about 6 weeks during the moving phase, but I turned the XONE on yesterday and gave it a go. I have to say I'm incredibly disappointed with the progress that's been made on patches. I tried playing a GT5 race with 8 AI drivers and the stuttering and inconsistent frame rates made it borderline unplayable, and the AI kept crashing into the same wall at Cadwell park during the practice session....yikes.

If there is room on the grid for me I will be there. I will be home from holidays on Wednesday night so I will have some time to practice. I did pretty well on Laguna in the trans am series. But I haven't tried gt3 on it yet. I remember a few people had trouble with cut track penalties in the trans ams so that will probably be something to watch out for in this race

Check to make sure you have update 2.0, because that doesn't sound right. The AI is much improved in 2.0, and I've raced with as many as 22 AI drivers in Race Weekend with no stuttering or frame rate issues. Even the sound stuttering doesn't happen much anymore, and that's something they can't really resolve yet.

I'm sure you have updated or the game wouldn't let you play unless you were in Offline Mode. Did you power cycle your xbox after updating and before playing? Is your xbox on Instant-On mode? Both of those are important. Make sure your xbox power settings is set to "Power Saving" and not to "Instant On". Also, after updating, you must go to dashboard, quit the game, and then power cycle. Try holding down your power button for 20ish seconds until your power brick light turns yellow, then unplug xbox, tap the power button a few times to clear cache, then plug it back in and boot it up. I get very little screen stutter except when someone joins/leaves a multiplayer game, and during that 1hr+ test session above I think I only noticed maybe 2 hiccups in my sound and they were only for a split second. I will put you down on the list as new. So long as the list doesn't get filled with people who've already raced in any of the first three races, you're in. I have to give priority to those who have already raced, but I do think it unlikely that the race will completely fill up with previous racers. It's possible, but unlikely.

While the pit exit is a pain. I believe it is also faster, as I have seen from real life racing.

Being a person who has been bitten by both issues all I can say is; WTF yo? Half the fun of it is to see if you will get a real pit stop or not, and since I have no hope of winning on the track was liking being able to count on a few criers quitting each week from the pits. Now I have to work that much harder to try and get some points, while not even giving me the mercy of a quick death by allowing me to be disqualified and avoid the humiliation of finishing 5 laps behind the leaders. Seriously, is this racing or is this patty cake? ROFLMAO. Sorry I just had to do that. Was a total satire performance. I do not really give a care what the rules are so long as they are used by everyone. I would however like to change vehicles if that would be possible. Oh and if it was not obvious by the preceding dissertation I will be there on the evening of the 15th of August, Year of our Lord Two Thousand and Fifteen. May all the fine heroes of the realms bring their beast and we pitch forth into great sporting competition at the Cauldron of Laguna Seca and see who shall be crowned El Rey de Laguna Seca!!!

Seriously, is this racing or is this patty cake? I agree 100% with that. I really wish I didn't have to do that to the pit stops even with the bugs. My only consolation to offer is there is still the option to pit if you choose. Not everyone will be able to keep their tires healthy for the entire duration of the event, and some will plan ahead to include a pit stop even when it isn't required. Even after my test run earlier this week where I proved it could be done, I will still probably pit tomorrow night. Also, damage will remain at Performance Impacting. That prevents anyone from being damaged out of the race unless they manage to flip a car and don't have Reset mapped, but you can still take severe damage to your suspension and will require repair pits I strongly suggest everyone create a Repair-only, No Fuel, No Tire pit stop. To do this, go into a race weekend or free practice, drop your car's Fuel load to 1L (or as low as you can) and save it, then create a pit strategy with the fuel bar as low as it goes and save that, then go back into your tune and reset your fuel there. From that point on, do not EVER open your Repair only pit strategies' menu. Just select it 'Yes' from the list and close the pit menu when you drive into the pits. As soon as 3.0 comes out, we will be going back to mandatory pits.

Ill have to try those settings Hercules. I see the group has grown considerably since I've been active, but judging from all the bugs mentioned in this post I think I will need to hone my skills and learn the game a bit before participating in your races. Plus it looks like a full grid too eh?
