Please note, all this is not set in stone. This is a skeleton for us to get a series started. There were several responses for a Formula A league so this is the reasoning for Formula A.
When and Where:
The Formula A Series races every Saturday beginning at 3 PM EST/ 12 PM PST. First race will be June 13th, 2015. All drivers are expected to be ready for qualifying at this time. Qualifying will be 15 minutes. An optional 30 minute practice period will be available prior to qualifying. There will be 10 races. Lowest 3 race results will be dropped from your point total. A RSVP list will be made for each race.
Race Length:
Number of laps will depend on the track. But drivers should be prepared for races around 1 hour in length.
Damage and Assists:
Damage will be on. Assists will be set for "Real Life". Tire and Fuel Wear will be real time.
Race Starts and A.I.:
Standing starts. No A.I.
Time and Weather:
This will vary. Some races will be in the middle of the day, some will be in the morning. You will have knowledge of the conditions 5 days in advance.
Barring technical issues, rain will play a part in 2 of the races in varying degrees. This will be predetermined for each race. You will have knowledge of the conditions 5 days in advance.
Penalties: Due to bugs in Projects CARS, penalties will not be turned on for races. Scoring:
Point based:
1st – 25 2nd – 18 3rd – 15 4th – 12 5th – 10 6th – 8 7th – 6 8th – 4 9th – 2 10th – 1
Tie Breaker – Races Won 2nd Tie Breaker – Most 2nd place finishes. 3rd Tie Breaker – Most 3rd place finishes.

Nice. Thanks for setting everything up.
Also, are you going to allow AI drivers to fill the grid, or limit it to players?

Nice. Thanks for setting everything up. Also, are you going to allow AI drivers to fill the grid, or limit it to players? Good question. Are there difficulty sliders for AI in multiplayer? I think it would be good to have AI to fill the field, but am worried about their advantage in tire wear and rain until update 1.4.

As we saw this afternoon on Hockenheim practice, some tracks may not be suitable to fill with AI, Hockenheim and Azure standing out the most. Others, like Monza, Spa, and Dubai would probably be quite fun with 'dodger' cars thrown into the mix.

Just the track layout along with the touchiness of these specific cars. If you backfill a starting grid with AI on some narrow track lanes and very tight turns such as Hockenheim and Azure Circuit, There are likely to be more players wrecking out than finishing. More open tracks such as Monza and Spa probably would be more forgiving, and Dubai, although having some tight turns, is a wider and generally more forgiving track than Hock and definitely Azure.
If damage is off, none of this applies, but I personally see damage on as a benefit to this type of event, encouraging everyone to keep it clean at all costs.

So if you finish 8,9 or 10th your out of the league?

So if you finish 8,9 or 10th your out of the league? No, what he means is your 7 best results of the 10 races count, so if you miss a race or 2 (because life happens), it won't penalize you as much.

I was just asking [about the AI]. I think not including them is probably best, as they could end up causing problems for players. I like the idea of damage being on, too--brings a little more anxiety to the drive, makes you approach every tight corner with a bit of caution. I just hope people are careful and wait until they are sure to attempt an overtake, especially if they're doing it in a corner. These cars are pretty fragile, and even small contact or being pushed off track can cause damage. Getting rear-ended after 30 mins+ of holding a position won't be a lot of fun. Of course, now I'll probably be the one that rear-ends someone.

Yup, this is correct. I have edited the post to make it more clear (I hope). It's possible to have more than 16 people in the points race. I was just asking [about the AI]. This has been updated in the description.
Damage is going to make everyone be more cautious. They do happen and this is a simulator! Will be fun, but some disappointment as well!

What if we are plagued with the penalty bugs?

What if we are plagued with the penalty bugs? Are you talking about the extra long ones?

What if we are plagued with the penalty bugs? Are you talking about the extra long ones? Hmm That is a point to be considered. With this first event being 48 laps and the cars only holding enough fuel for *maybe* 20 laps, pit strategy will play a point in this race. If someone gets nailed with a 3000sec (50 minute) track cut penalty for leaving the pits (known bug).. well? Even a 300 second penalty (don't know if this exists) will pretty much guarantee the only people you beat will be those sitting on blocks at the side of the road. I'm only having one idea about how to deal with this, but it's not an idea I would endorse... : Break the race into two separate sessions of 30min/24 laps and then combine points for the total event. I hope we don't have to do this as a 48 lap race requiring at least 2 pits stops sounds phenomenal. Maybe we'll luck out and 1.4 will be released this week before the event. *fingers crossed* Edit: Nevermind me on the 20 laps comment. I was unaware this car could carry up to 240 liters of fuel. Thought it was max at 99L. Max fuel of 240 could potentially give 60 laps worth of fuel, estimating 4L/lap. I doubt tires would survive that stint though. Gonna be playing around with it.

Going to be some strategy involved in this race for sure hercules!!
No penalties then until the bugs are fixed. I trust people will race the right way. If they don't they won't be welcome.
