Are we going with 40 laps? We took it down to 20 last time, because 40+ was feeling a little long. From the discussion, it sounded 20-25 was about where everyone wanted to be. Just checking. Also, you can put me down for the race.

I'd love for it to be the full 40, but that will require people to put in a few hours of practice throughout the week. Last race was a wreckfest due to the instability of these cars, and the majority of racers took themselves out in the first 1/8th of the race, and being that the majority had nothing left to do but watch for the next 40+ minutes, it was decided to restart with a shorter duration. I wish it wasn't as I ended up in first before the race was called, but it is what it is, and the second race was just as fun having more people on the track. Maybe in a year's time people will be able to just pick up the car and run a race of this duration without issue, but for now participants really should be taking the time to learn their car as best they can before going into this. This ain't exactly Forza RSVP as well.

Won't be able to make it unless we can run it at 12pm EST

I have no problem running it that early if everyone else who's interested can make it. 9AM is early for me, but having a few days notice makes planning for it not an issue. It will already be around 100* by then anyway, so I'll already have the kids back from their weekend trips to the park anyway. CentCal summers blow so hard.

This ain't exactly Forza RSVP as well. This is why I wasn't so sure about formula and A may have been hasty. These cars aren't easy to drive, and 10 times harder to drive for longer durations. I really think leagues need to have decent length races. Just growing pains. Won't be able to make it unless we can run it at 12pm EST You got it. I don't know... Formula As definitely require a more gentle touch, but, I wouldn't call it instability. Without practice, I have a hard time keeping a GT car on the track. I think it all depends on what you're more used to driving.
I agree, longer races will be easier to run later on. I think SMS also needs to roll out another patch or two, because as long as they keep making changes to the FFB and car handling, it'll be hard for drivers to settle into their cars to the point of being able to pick up and drive.
Are we changing the race time?

I still consider Victorville SoCal, or kinda not, maybe High Desert. I wish it was Victorville as then it would cool off at night due to being the desert. The central valley holds all it's heat in. By July it will be 80 at 5:30 am, 100 at 9am, 105 at noon, 110 at 5PM (hottest time of day), and 100ish again at 10pm. I love living here but for the 2-3 months of summer where you just cower indoors. I remember a horrid July 4th last year or year before 115 and ~90% hum. It was like getting slapped in the face by an oven at 500 opening the door to go smoke...

It would hit 115 on the hottest days, without humidity though.

12 p.m. EST? If that's the case, yeah...it'll work. Can't really make that a regular thing, though. That's 11:00 a.m., CST. I'm kind of a morning person, so I'm usually busy knocking things out until around 1:00 p.m..

So 12pm EST race is not happening. There were a total of 3 forum members on at the time, and one other person who may or may not have joined us. The comments leading up to the race suggest no one even wants to run Formula A for this event.
We'll try again for 3pm EST, but unless we get enough people interested in running this as an event it may just be kicked back to this evening. We'll decide if/when the group forms up if we want to keep formula A or go with something a little friendlier.

So, race never happened.
At 3pm EST we had exactly the same number of people on as for the 12pm time-slot. We played for another 90 minutes or so after that, again with no one else coming on, and all took a break. I don't know if any group got together to try something in the evening. Thank you to those who did show up. Maybe next weekend will be better.
Toss the forum address around to people any of you play with. We need more people involved. We probably also need to change this event from Formula A as it seems that everyone who has been involved in it doesn't like these cars, at least that is my perception of the Live Chat.
