This is pretty normal for game developers now. FM6 was being working on just after 5 shipped according to Dan Greenwalt.

No, I get that. I just question the announcement, given the fact that the game is still very buggy. Forza was pretty much stable, when they announced FM6. One of the reasons the FM6 announcement came soon was because FM5 was a rush release, slapped together quickly for the Xb1 launch. It was short on tracks and cars, and T10 wanted to let people know they were on it. Also, Turn 10 wasn't asking people to fund the sequel, while simultaneously dealing with a mob of unsatisfied customers still unable to enjoy the previous release. Personally, I think they should have waited until PCars was fairly stable. As it currently stands, you can't even play career mode, let alone have official league play. There are just too many problems with the game.
Don't get me wrong, I like PCars--love it actually. I just don't think SMS is a very good studio, which is a shame, because they have a great game on their hands, but their poor customer skills turn a lot of people off. And without a strong community, it will slowly come to be seen as a single player racing sim. That is, assuming they get all the bugs worked out, especially in career mode.

I'm not surprised that they're doing it, Ian Bell confirmed that it was already in the works a week or two ago on the PCars forum.
But to make a press release about it with the current issues facing PCars1? I agree, that was just a wee bit thoughtless of them, basically inviting a ton of criticism and forcing themselves to respond to that criticism, essentially legitimizing it.
I am honestly starting to wish I had never heard of this game for the first time 1 month before its release, but now that I have it and have found genuine enjoyment from it, I am most definitely in for the long haul in seeing this game completely work. I know my advice over on the PCars forum isn't always accurate, but I will continue to do my best to support the game and the community in whatever way I can. To do anything less is really just inhibiting the realization of a completely working game.
