I did a bit of testing today and have found the Skype can slow down your xbox if you haven't hard rebooted in a while causing visual skipping and grainy image during parts of race sessions with high system demand. This is caused when you cycle through several games/apps and then open PCars. PCars taxes your system to the limit, and having multiple apps/games open without a reboot does take up system resources even when not being used, just like any other PC does.
Do the following before race day to optimize your home network, system, and general experience:
--From the main xbox dashboard, hold down the power button on your xbox for 20+ seconds until the power brick light turns yellow
--Unplug your power cord going into the back of the xbox, then tap the power button a few times
--unplug your Router and Modem.
--Wait at least 3 minutes for each device to clear it's cache.
--Plug in Modem, wait for 30-120 seconds for it to finish it's boot cycle and all lights are as they should be
--Plug in Router, wait for it to finish it's boot cycle.
--Plug in Xbox and boot.
--Start and log in to skype, then back out to dashboard
-- Start PCars and click whatever you need to get to main window (Do not open any other games or apps)
Now your system is running only what it absolutely needs to, and will ensure the best possible experience free of video glitches and slowdowns. I did test all this using a 32car grid in Race Weekend with myself in the middle of the pack. I did experience glitches and slowdowns since I had not HARD reset the xbox as described above. I do not use Instant-On mode, but even still the xbox does retain some info in memory that can cause glitches. Prior to my reboot I had cycled through many apps on the system as well as playing other games. After I did the above steps, I had zero issues in the same high-demand races. It takes less than 10 minutes to do, and there is really no reason not to do the above just as a preventative measure.
