Saturday, August 29th 9pm EST/6pm PST. 33 laps at Dubai Autodrome GP. Qualifying will start PROMPTLY at 9pm. If you are late enough that you cannot join qual, you will not be joining the race either.
I will try to start filling the party at 8:50pm. At least once during the week before the race I will try to host a 2+ hour long practice session that is open to anyone to join and leave whenever they like.
Please reply below if you are sure to be there. If you participated in either of the previous races, then you must use the same car in this race that you did for the those, and must for all future races. If you have not raced with us in this series yet, then you may use any GT3 car besides the BMW M3.
Remember:
We will be using skype this weekend. MSG me in game or over the forums with your skype ID if you haven't done so yet. Once I have your Skype Id, you must accept the contact request that I will send to you so that everything is ready to pick up and go on Saturday.
Download Skype! We will not be using Live chat or Game chat.
Rules Change...
Because of the problems with pitting that no matter what we try we cannot get around, pitting will be optional until they are successfully patched by SMS. You can still refill fuel and tire change if you like, and damage will still be on so repairs will be part of it as well. Tire Wear is still Real. Until the fuel level and red-tire bug is worked out, it's just doing more harm than good to the series by keeping these in. Also, Penalties will be disabled. There is currently no rhyme or reason to when someone is disqualified from cut-track penalties, and many tracks have faulty track limits that just compound the problem. I consider advantageous track cutting to be cheating, no matter what the programmed limits are. If you are caught intentionally corner cutting you will lose your points for this race. I don't really thing corner cutting is a problem we have to worry about anyway with this group. If Patch 3.0 is released and appears to have fixed the pit issues, we will go back to having a mandatory tire change for this race.
For all those interested in racing the GT3 Series. Install Skype on your xbox, and then either post here, PM me here, or message me in xbox with the email address/user name that you set up skype with. It is possible and does work to get as many as 16 people all in the same chat channel using this method.
There are many places on this track where you can cut corners or run wide very easily without making the lap "dirty". Even if it costs you time or your normal line through this track, I expect everyone to make an honest effort to stay within the white lines on the track. Running wide or cutting in on a pass or when just misjudging your line on any given lap happens, but do not make running outside the lines part of your personal line on this track. At the very least, plan to keep you car at least 2 tires on the green apron where the turns allow it, such as the corner exit on last turn or the inside and outside kerbs on turn 2 after the little downhill.
Also, because of this track's tendency to eat tires especially during a hot weather times of year (which this race will be), I may make Tire Wear slow for this race. Doing that will depend on whether patch 3.0 comes out and properly addresses the pit stop bugs. I do want to return to mandatory pit stop/tire change, but doing so is not worth it right now at the cost of ruining too many peoples' races. I will let you all know within a day or two whether Tire Wear will be Slow or Real.
