Well not a great start
Lap 1 2:06 Lap 2 2:04 Lap 3 2:03 Lap 4,5,6,7 all spins Lap 8 2:02
Looks like I'll be lapped at least twice tonight.
Are there any cars that are better than others or are they all pretty similar? I'm using the ginetta

Yay a ginetta user. I was tempted to drive that when we started, but I was already too familiar with the Aston Martin. If there's any car besides the BMW M3 that can be considered better than any other, it might be the Bentley Continental. It's different in it's own way. Most depends on the driver though.
The only reason I singled the M3 out is because it allows you to adjust individual gearing in the transmission in a way that no other GT3 car does. All of the GT3 class has either 1-3 different Final Gear selections, or 1-3 6th gear options. The M3 allows you to fine-tune Final and 1-6th gear from a whole assortment of possible gears. Even though that car is sort of weaker than the rest of the class, the transmission allows you to gear the car specifically for each track, which can be more valuable to a good tuner than having the greater power of the other cars.
As far as specific liveries, I don't think it matters if anyone doubles up any other livery. Use what you like, as far as I'm concerned.

Wow, sounds like a great race, I would have loved to have driven it. That is a tough track to learn, at least for me. It was my first time on it Friday, and probably won't be on it again for a long while. I've raced with Beets before that guy was 3 seconds faster than anyone in our league and made quite a mockery of it in his Bentley, no surprise in the results there. I would love to try again sometime in the future if you have room. I'm always looking to expand my horizons with a good group of racers.

Every week has it's own RSVP list. So long as there's space up till about an hour or two before race time, you'll be guaranteed a slot. Have a down-week now with Labor Day weekend coming up, but next race is Road America at night. No details yet on time progression or laps but all of that data will be provided. Assuming no major flaw with the pitting system is found in the next week and reported on PCars forum, expect going back to Real Tire Wear and mandatory minimum one pit stop and one tire change. As before, no way to enforce it, but I do expect members to be adult enough to just do as asked.

Thanks for hosting. Hope to be there for round 7 as well. Road America should be fun but I've got a lot of practicing to do to get to the front of the field. Some real aliens there

I don't think you'll have a problem if you add a few more laps. Initially I thought 33 laps at Dubai were going to be well past my fuel range with the new approximate figures, but after running a few practice laps I think I could have made it with 97L.

I could easily go more laps. The purpose of this series was to provide a schedule of 1hr races. I figure the number of laps for each race by taking my average lap time and averaging to a reasonably faster time on the leaderboards, then dividing 3600 (number of seconds per hour) by the number of seconds per lap. Then I just rough-in a few more or less laps based on my opinion of track difficulty. Bathurst I planned for less than 1 hour. Dubai, Laguna Seca, Spa I figured a little more not so much because the tracks are less difficult, but because those tracks are known favorites of many. The only race I am considering running longer than 1 hour will be the final race at Nurburgring Nordschleife, and that will likely just be lengthened enough to make an even number of laps, like 10 or 12. I knew from my testing of all cars for race #1 at Circuit de la Sarthe that all GT3 cars are capable of holding roughly 85 minutes of fuel on max tank, more than enough for 1 hour events without refueling being a necessity. I did want to include a required minimum of 1 tire change even if not required by wear just to add some variety into the race, and leave it up to the individuals how they wanted to strategize their fuel loads and tire wear.
I've already been spending time considering the next series once this one is completed. I most definitely do not want to tackle the challenge of organizing two events in one week. One is enough to allow me to still get some me-time in on the game. I'm also not at all opposed if someone else wanted to start a second series to run concurrently with this one, say weekdays Weds or Thurs, and I'd have no problem hosting skype or even the races for such an event with my network connection, but I do not want to organize it. Future series' I'm considering would be either a 90-120 minute race series, or (more hopefully) a dual-class series with something akin to running GT3 and LMP1 at the same time with two different leaderboards per race. I'd just have to find out how many people would be willing to stick with one class over another.
The new approximate fuel figures listed in the tuning section are EXTREMELY conservative. For this last race at Dubai GP on my Aston Martin, the game estimated full fuel load of 106L to be enough for 34.1 laps. I knew from testing that 92L left me with around 12L after running 33Laps. That leaves a difference of roughly 22liters between my actual usage and the game's estimation. I don't think it's possible to redline the car enough during that race to account for that 22L difference under the worst driving conditions.

Yeah I wouldn't mind running some LMP1-2 endurance races maybe every 2 weeks. But I've discovered there is a bit of disparity between some of the cars. A baseline test should probably be done to determine which cars are dogs and which are closer to equal.
